Baring Vostok considers the courts’ decisions to extend pre-trial house arrest to be unfounded and overly severe, and will seek to overturn them. Our colleagues, as well as Maxim Vladimirov, Alexander Tsakunov and Alexey Kordichev, remain hostages in a commercial dispute after being illegally detained for a year and a half on charges that even the investigator and the claimant have subsequently abandoned. The house arrest measures were extended even after repeated presentation of numerous documents that confirm beyond a reasonable doubt the absence of any crime. Today’s decisions once again confirm that this criminal case is being used to pressure us in a commercial dispute. We will continue to seek justice and truth, and pursue punishment for those behind this case.
